Already looking to expand

Hispania Capital Partners, who recently bought a majority stake in the Chicago weekly La Raza (circ. 194,000) is working hard to increase the newspapers revenues. The expansion strategy includes Chicago but also other important Hispanic markets, Carlos Signoret, partner at Hispania Capital tells Portadatm. “We are looking to buy weeklies and Yellow page directories throughout the country that are in markets interesting and complementing to Chicago.” “We want to leverage a common infrastructure with the print media properties we acquire”. La Raza recently joined a new initiative to increase its national advertising side revenue (see “New Newspaper network” on page 12 of current Portadatm issue). Signoret adds that he is looking for alliances in the online arena with other publications.
