New leadership at The Miami Herald

Changes at Knight Ridder's Miami Herald will impact the Latin American editions of The Miami Herald and El Nuevo Herald (one of the two Miami specifically targeting Latinos). Miami Herald executive editor Tom Fiedler announced that Tony Espetia, currently managing editor of the International Edition, will now report to him. Espetia was formerly managing editor of El Nuevo Herald. The Miami Herald's International Edition is one of the major English-language international newspapers distributed in Latin America and the Caribbean. In addition, Liza Gross became managing editor/presentations and operations, responsible for the newspaper's graphic design and daily production, including front page and weekend news. Before joining The Miami Herald, Gross was executive managing editor for El Nuevo Día, Puerto Rico's largest daily. According to Fiedler, the new management structure will be non-hierarchical in order to better serve the paper's diverse readership and better utilize its multimedia capabilities.
