In October, Time Inc.'s Fortune shut down its New York based Spanish edition and translation unit, Fortune Americas. Fortune will continue to provide branded syndication service to four Latin American partners, including the Mexican newspaper Reforma. However, the English version of Fortune will now be translated and edited by the staff of the newspapers themselves. According to sources at Time Inc., it was not cost efficient to run an editorial department out of New York.
