Taking the Telenovela Online with Interactive & Mobile Components

Dec. 5, 2008
Univision Online, and Endemol, a company specializing in content development, have partnered with Amistad Productions to produce the interactive web-novela “Vidas Cruzadas” (Crossed Lives).

“Advertisers will have a wide array of product placement and organic integration opportunities that will position their brands with some of the most popular talent on Spanish-language media today,” Cesar Conde, EVP and chief strategy officer, Univision Communications tells Portada. “The web-novela will also have an unprecedented amount of interactivity, including trivia, polls, local tie-ins and a sweepstakes where users will be able to act out a scene and upload their video for a chance to win a cameo appearance in the web-novela.”

There will also be extensive mobile integration, including a dedicated mobile portal (WAP) site, video streaming and clips of the episodes, SMS interactivity and ringtones.

The 15-episode web-novela will consist of three to five minute episodes and will be available to Univision.com users for free.

Conde tells Portada that Univision.com generates nearly 11 million video streams per month.  “The website’s video portal provides instant access to thousands of free videos, leveraging Univision’s TV programming to broadband users across the Internet,” Conde adds.
